Humans

Humans have the most difficult auras to read. Not only do we have complex emotions, but auras for humans can read off of emotions and personality, and have overlapping colors. This means, someone could have orange for the way they feel and orange to represent their personality, but it will be two totally different meanings. There is no simple way to tell the two auras apart.

Determining the auras of humans is also difficult because it depends greatly on what that person thinks of the color. Unless you have something else to go by, the aura alone isn't going to tell you much of anything. For example, if you see pink on a boy, maybe they are thinking they are weak. But if you see pink on a girl, it could mean that she thinks of herself as strong or pretty. That's just an example, not a definite case.

When reading a human aura, it is usually shape or intensity, more than color, that will give out clues. Color is too subjective a thing to read just by looking at.

These auras can also vary depend on who is reading them. Some people are always able to see the same color for the same personality trait or emotion. It all depends on your skills - everyone is different.

Animals

Animals also have auras. Sad to say, but auras depend a lot on intelligence (no, this does not explain why some objects have auras). I guess the safe thing to say is, in the realm of living things, intelligence matters. The aura you see from an insect won't be nearly as profound as one from your pet, and the aura from your pet will be nothing compared to a dolphin (one of the most intelligent creatures).

One of the difficulties with animals is that for each species, their colors mean different things, and their shapes tend to not matter so much. So you can see a dog's aura, and then a cat's aura. They will have the exact same colors but mean two completely different things. Here is a chart to help you get started:

Objects

Auras in objects are not uncommon, although it does seem rather surprising that they would have one.

Since objects don't have emotions or personalities, their aura usually represents something else. Depending on the object, it could easily be the aura of the last person that used it or touched it. These auras may stick around for a long time, or they may fade quickly. It all depends on how often that person used the object.

If an object is used by more than one person normally, or a person who doesn't normally use it just picked it up a few minutes ago, the auras will not remain seperate bit will merge, forming an aura that doesn't really mean anything at all.

Unless you are 100% sure of who last used the object in question, auras from objects typically aren't anything information can be gotten off of.
